One of the main driving factors for this new website was to celebrate the combination of three websites into one: TCO Agromart, Northumberland Grain, and TCO Grain. The elephant in the room meant that there was an enormous amount of information to present without making the client feel overwhelmed. Along with these three websites contained information for six Agromart locations – including all products, services, and contact information.

TCO Agromart’s Website Needs
  1. Organizing this massive amount of information into something more manageable for both the company and the client.
  2. Website security needed a tune-up.
  3. Site traffic was very low relative to the amount of information they had been presenting all this time.
  4. The current design was dated, awkward to read, and less intuitive for visitors to navigate.
  5. TCO Grain was costing a substantial amount of money each month from the live DTN market updates. A more affordable option is desired.

A functional,
structured
design for
TCO’s content

Careful, search engine optimization research was conducted based on competitors, current search trends, and the vision for the new site’s functionality and look. We looked at every detail from restructuring the URLS, creating new meta titles and descriptions, setting up analytics, examining competitor sites, technical improvements, and indexing all pages shortly after launch.

We also redesigned the footer of the page to show contact and location information for all six of their agromarts. The result is clear, easy to read, and intuitive.

The new website was set up with a valid SSL certificate, a premium theme, pro plugins, and a web application firewall for logging into the site.

Increased traffic
for its robust site

Installing the latest analytics technology (Google Analytics 4) paired with Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager meant that we had a baseline measurement right off the bat. Our previous keyword research meant the site was already optimized as soon as it went live, so we submitted our sitemaps into GSC and began the indexing process.

A simple, easy to
use navigation
for the user

A fresh new look meant a cohesive colour scheme, navigation menu, and systematic placement of content so the visitor can easily browse through without feeling frustrated. One way we reduced user frustration was through a drop-down style design feature. This feature hides most content on the screen unless the user clicks the arrow to show more information. This allows the visitor to quickly browse through types of fertilizer (for example) and then click on a specific one for additional information. We used this feature on several pages, allowing the visitor to know what to expect when navigating around.

A fresh, cohesive
design to attract
clientele

An interactive video provided by TCO Agromart was used in the hero section of the website to get the user engaged as soon as they land on the site. TCO’s imagery was used throughout to accompany the content to highlight it’s staff and organization. Stock imagery was used along with their own images to complete the website. Typography from TCO Agromart’s branding was used throughout the website and give the website a strong, professional look to the content.

An affordable
solution for
TCO Grain

Phase 2 of this project emphasizes this critical part of the plan. All the information from TCO Grain is being consolidated into the markets page using widgets to display live market feeds. These widgets greatly reduce the overhead costs associated with obtaining a separate website (tcograin.com), plus the user stays on one website, not bouncing around to completely different website, their experience is cohesive.

As a bonus, we included a really cool timeline feature on their about page. This presented the history of TCO Agromart in a visual, yet informative way.

A user-friendly job submission board

Easy-to-use job submission board for the company, featuring a front-end submission system with a no-index page that is bookmarked for internal use. This system streamlines the job posting process, requiring only a PDF job description and a specific URL, making it efficient and convenient for the company using our premium tools.
